Bastille Day! Hapinness to all who celebrate and heck to anyone reading!

I awoke today with a spring in my step and thought to myself, it's time to add some cheery things to my blog. 

So here you go some inspiration to use during your daily procrastination:

 

A peapod for your sweetpea! This is so adorable, even if you don't have a baby in the works, or know someone who does, it's almost difficult not to buy it!

I have of course linked it through the image, as usual so that those of you in love can get one.

 

This beautiful print is so soothing to my eyes. I can imagine sailing away in this hotair balloon until, like those on this wonderful ride have done, I forgot where I came from. A wonderful print for a child's room, a quiet reading corner, or a paceful familyroom.

Dahl loves Owls. I love owls. If Lola saw this, I am sure that she too would love owls. What's not to love? The colorful wiseguy won't make you feel dumb, even though he's, you know, an owl and super bright. pun intended. 

He's got an army of owly friends waiting for some lover of wonderful frivolity to come and adopt them. 

People! Please, make a line and wait your turn.

 

And last stationery. I think everyone, young and old should have a stash of blank cards for written notes. Thank you notes and a simple hello really are much more appreciated when written in your own hand. While there are many beautiful choices have a looksey at these adorable Learn to Print notes. Perfect for anyone from a young child to a highschool graduate.   With these in your stationery arsenal you might not even misspell your name! And it will be, if nothing else in the note follows suit, written neatly.

Choosing just one

I've never been good at choosing just one. 

Ice cream flavors, coffee mugs, shoes.

Even children.

Did the one child thing once. Loved him so much I decided the next time I would take two.

Now I am trying to choose just one out of four silhouettes.

I have purchased five from a talented artist, Miss Crowland, on Etsy.  

So impressed was I with her work, I asked her to make my daughters' silhouettes in color. She came back with too many for me to choose from. So here I am. Asking for your help. Any thoughts? I believe this is Dahl.

You can buy this pretty family because I am going to tell you where to get them. It's hard, you know. I feel like I'm giving up family members but since you're in my 'circle' I know they'll live a good life with you. Hurry. They are in a back alley. Behind a large green dumpster is a door with a sign that says, VaudevilleVintage. It's what they're calling the homes these days....

Now hush. Go, and be off with the orphans before I change my mind. But forever remember your promise to me! Do NOT SPLIT UP THE SIBLINGS! -LD

Having a baby? Mind control

Then get with it! One of the best parts of being a parent is being able to tell someone what to say, do and think! And what better way than giving your little me a ride on the path to the correct political view? Yours? Yes yours! If you have an infant, are pregnant or planning a pregnancy (Woo hoo! Were you able to convince your honey? The Jedi mind trick? Or a little inebriation? The latter often works. If not there are many websites just teaming with ideas on deception of a spouse for purposes of getting pregnant) you're a lucky chick! I have found the most adorable way to start penetrating your progeny's malleable mind subtlety, and oh so chicly!

There is evidence that rocking a baby is a good way to calm them, lull them into a state of mild hypnosis, where you can then whisper your beliefs into their little baby ears. Some things you may want to consider saying:

"Huck's not ...... I can't think of anything that rhymes......

Caught my eye...

Laundry is not exactly on the top of my fun things to do list. I like pretty things. Looking at them, trying my hand at making them, all around being surrounded by them. I'm also not the best at doing laundry. Not much into those pesky rules: don't mix colors with whites, blah blah blah. Can you imagine how many more loads this would take?! I couldn't possibly do that to my mother in law. Oh yes. She's the saint that does most of my laundry. She comes over on the weekend and spends the night and does a marathon. Of course during the week, Lola and Dahl do sometimes need something washed and I'm all they have.....

Anyway, I found these adorable washing instruction plaques. I think they're so cheery it might make me want to spend more time in my laundry/garage/ gym/storage facility/extended pantry room. Have a looksey. AND REMEMBER TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE LEFT HAND COLOUMN. There you will find things that have recently caught my eye. They may not be for everyone, but they may be for you.

I feel an urge to decorate do some laundry...LD

Dieting? Yummy, look away!

Or maybe not. I think that maybe this is the way to go. At first I was considering these delicious foods for Lola and Dahl. To play with. Now I think I will go shopping and buy me a pantry full! Stock my refridgerator with the goodies. And tout their goodness from the mountain tops!

Just think. They don't spoil and since I'm into this whole organic kick, what's more organic than felt wool? And imagine my waist. Reappearing! Now that's a thought to chew on.

Apologies for the interruption, the heavens seem to open up and a chorus of angels begin singing when I mention... well  you know who's cakes.

She makes the best not made of felt cakes this side of a computer screen! I have purchased them for babyshowers, bridal showers, my daughters' first birthday party, and I send them every year, religiously, to my childrens' pediatricians, and other very special doctors that treated my risky pregnancy with Lola and Dahl. I love their cakes, like the Earth loves the Sun's warmth. Probably more with that whole hole in the ozone layer issue and all.... LD

Want to go on a Magic carpet ride?

How many times have you said this one? Or perhaps offered a jaunt yourself? Only to remember you didn't have a magic carpet? It's a terribly uncomfortable situation. I know from personal experience. And trying to backtrack gracefully, well that never truly works. Somehow the invitee feels you've changed your mind and decided that someone else should join you up in the cool night sky, amongst the stars, and while this may be true for some people, more often than not it's the former and not the latter causing the retraction of the offer. Worry no more! I have found us a Magic carpet! Or something that looks kind of similar? Actually to me it looked like a red minuature golf area sans the holes and flags but what do I know?

They say you can roll around, strech out and read on this thing. And the geniuses actually called it The Flying Carpet. (Must have had similar experiences) Made of 100% New Zealand wool and handloomed you know it's probably hypoallergenic and very reasonably priced.(Well it is probably hypoallergenic). Another stocking stuffer, or one of those gifts to grab a few of to keep on hand for those people who you forget to buy for, or the ones who stop by unannounced. And it comes in three colors! Red, green- like your mini golf in case your imagination isn't very vivid and you need the color to be the same, this would be for you, and grey, like a sad cloudy day.

Just doing what I can.  Hopefully I will soon have a lot to say. For now I must decide which carpet fly.I've always heard that red cars get more speeding tickets.....

Beautifying your child's space

If you're looking for ideas on sprousing up your child's room, don't ask your child! ...Instead head on over to Serena and Lily's. The have a wonderful selection of beddings, headboards, and room accessories sure to please almost any shopper. (And if you like the wall colours in the rooms pictured guess what? They'll see you the paint!) And all of their rooms are named. You can choose from rooms like,  the Anna,Charlotte, and Lulu.

I am particularly fond of the Ruby room. The bedding is yummy and the floral motif on the bumper is placed so that it faces out and therefore the crib looks more than just a functional piece, more a thing of beauty. For your little beauty. 

And if you have a sonshine, like I do, they have some classic inspired yet modern boys rooms. And really, the boys often get overlooked when it comes to the design world. And I understand that pink, flowers, and glitter are very alluring but if done right, a boy's room can be almost as much fun.

No scratchy Spiderman sheets for your second grader. No Winnie the Pooh for your infant - WTP has me ill. I know he's a nice bear and all and we aren't supposed to make fun of his teensy brain but bleugh. He's everywhere! Like a bad rash. Get yourself some benadyl, some cortizone and get that skin all cleared up. Here you'll find bold creme and red stripes, chocolate browns and chambray blues. If your interest has been peaked you should look into the Asher. As the site says, the look is sporty, bold and smart.

Go on and spruce up the place :)
