Where have I been? Apparently, this is not new news but it may be news to you. Gap has launched a line of children's clothing for kids, made by kids. 

Children seem to be bitten by the consumer bug and at least from what you'll see below, seem very much in support of Gap's new venture. And truly, with the economy in the tank and many unemployed, it may be time to put your six year old to work.

The weather

Look at what I pulled up on the local new channel's weather forecast.

Suffice it to say that normally this cartoon girl's hair is pin strait and rivals the hair of any girl on those Pantene commercials. Yep. Today is a day for short skirts, 5" heels, and plunging necklines. With a ball cap. Now to figure out how to get to the store to buy the short skirt, 5" heels and plunging neckline. Ah, and the young taut body to go with it without being seen!

I guess all in all it's just a day to hide out. LD

Hellooooooooo Babysitter!

Hello Kitty. That loveable, ever giving, sweet,we think yet are not sure because she doesn't have a mouth to tell us otherwise, feline has found her voice, though she's still not managed to find a mouth. HK , the robot, is being marketed to parents who have no time to spend with last season's must have accessory, a kid. These rugrats were like a dazzling pair of diamond earrings for a few seasons strait and most of us went and invested in one or two, perhaps a whole collection, only to realize that much like those dalmation puppies, they grow and are no fun in real life. Take note, neither are bunnies. And no, they do not carry baskets full of candy, and carrying one in my purse brought me no luck at Micosukee gaming. And it had all four feet so this was certainly should have been a lucky rabbit. Anyway, all of these accessories become a burden, and so these wonderful people, I don't know who, have decided to help with a talking Hello Kitty. She will take care of them, or entertain them, whichever floats your boat, so you can pretend to go to the grocery store, or that you're having surgery, or watering your plants, and run away. I was thinking of all of my friends who have accessorized with children. Really, when not in public, or being photographed we all do need something, to care for them. Sigh, how's that saying go? 'Everything old is new again?' They'll be en vogue again. And at $6,299.99 she is the perfect stocking stuffer.- LD

Princess

Sometimes you feel like one. Sometimes you don't. Those are the days that you've forgotten your crown. McGyver gal LD has a remedy for that.  I wanted something you could make with whatever content were living or not at the deepest recesses of your purse. Nothing pretty would come of it so I changed course.

I was reading and came across (cough, cough, heavily searched for, hired a team of young researchers who spent 2 weeks on this, and devoted a many of my waking hours to this)a tutorial on making crowns. We should all have one. At the very least!

 

So if you're feeling a bit gloomy, need a bit of uplift, try a crown on for size. I am looking forward to the day there are crowns for sale at your local coffee shoppe yet until then you'll have to make it yourself.Thanks to Creative Chaos for the tutorials. It comes in two parts. One and a Two and a .... that's it. Just two. Now go and make yourself pretty.

Shopping to keep your Dahl from looking like a Lolita

My girls are still some years away from this, at least this is what I tell myself, at three I still have about four- five good years of little girlhood. Right? Anyway for those of you ahead of me in raising little girls I think this article is interesting, and if not a little frustrating. You feel for the author. At least I did knowing this is coming. The author takes you shopping with her 11 year old, who fortunately isn't set on dressing like a lady of the evening. Just yet. Hopefully never. The sad thing you will see is that in place of eensy teeny weensy bikini briefs, if your daughter is more demure she can wear t-shirts with sayings such as, 'It's cute how stupid you are!' and 'I left my brain in my locker'  I say go young women! Power to the girl! And woohoo, kudos to the creative genius who decided a young girl should have such things blazing across her chest....an area already drawing plenty of attention, now used as a billboard telling their male counterparts, 'keep looking, I like the attention and have no brain anyway...'

sigh.

I know my day is coming. And I dread it. For those of you in the thick of it, I hear ya and I have a solution. Burkas.

Vintage you

Alert...this is an L&D must have!

I love vintage anything. Clothing, ads, stories...even vintage people. I've be known to have a little collection.  It has hurt me at times to lose some of them but I have them in my heart and I continue to collect. They bring me much joy.  (For those of you interested in volunteering at nursing homes please e-me)

So I was thrilled to learn of M&B Vintage.

And you'll love them too.

They are a pair of girls who hunt down goodies at flea markets. And boy can they find em. They say every girl should have a charm bracelet. And I agree but how many of us have heirlooms like this being flung on us? If you do thats great, for the rest of us Marie and Barri have taken care of this.

Take a trip to their site and choose from vintage charms of vintage recreations and they will put a bracelet together for you.

Can you just imagine a vintage bracelet except it has YOUR life's story? When does that ever happen? At M&B Vintage it happens all of the time.

Fill out a little form telling them about yourself, things you would want to commit to memory, and tell them if you want true vintage charms or a recreation of vintage charms M&B have loved from their souvenir collection. They can find anything.

They have found a brain charm for a neurosurgeon. I think they'll be able to furnish something for anyone.

A new take on wearing birthday cake

I've never been one for wearing cake. Not wedding, not birthday, not dessert at a restaurant yet my children seem to think this is a fun and good idea.  In comes genius Cheryl Dack of Sew Sweet. She took this idea and cleaned it up a bit. Prettied it up if you will,with her new birthday shirt line. This isn't some cheesy shirt with that says I'm insert a huge number, This is a tasteful top, hand embroidered with a vintage cake. Perfect for your little one to wear to school as she brings in a batch of cupcakes baked fresh in her honour by your local bakery Mommy dearest. Adorable with a flouncy skirt, leggins layered underneath, a tutu, or simply shorts. Just plain adorable.  And just like your little one, just plain SEW SWEET.

Fit Flops? or just FLOPS?

FIT Flops...fat fighters?

Okay I had to click on this link to a story that says there are now flip flops on the market that will help you tone up with every step you take.   

I was skeptical but really, the claim is true for any shoe! When you're walking your exerting energy, which is calorie, less calories equal less fat and a more toned physique. Still being the tester that I am, I may just pick up a pair. I mean my little heart IS making little FIT FLOP sounds in anticipation of a smaller bum and longer, leaner gams......if you want some too you can find them here and a list of shoppes here. ( I hate when I have to go and search for something myself....give a blog reader some love!)

If you get them before I do let me know how they work out for you, er, you know what I mean.

 

By the way I have succumbed to these stories before purchasing the uber expensive MBTs. I like them quite well. Make me feeel taller, which I guess makes me look leaner?  Have they helped me tone up? I'm not so sure but I'll keep wearing them.

How about covering those unflawed?

Has anyone considered this.

We have all of these shows (and if you haven't just e-me I have a list I can rattled off in my sleep!), books, magazines, and yes, some blogs telling us how to dress to instantly look 10 lbs slimmer- how about we unwaifs of the world tackle all of the rail thin chicks and dress them in fat suits? Let's wite about that. I'll be there'd be a long line of skinnies at the bakery stuffing their faces with dozens of cupcakes for fear of the wrath of those of us on the plumper side of life!

If you're still inclined to look 10 lbs slimmer check out this story. Maybe you can dress well while you're pinning the model like creatures down and stuffing some food into their throats. Yes do that. I am all for looking nice regardless of the venue. No more sweatpants to the mall.
