Choosing just one

I've never been good at choosing just one. 

Ice cream flavors, coffee mugs, shoes.

Even children.

Did the one child thing once. Loved him so much I decided the next time I would take two.

Now I am trying to choose just one out of four silhouettes.

I have purchased five from a talented artist, Miss Crowland, on Etsy.  

So impressed was I with her work, I asked her to make my daughters' silhouettes in color. She came back with too many for me to choose from. So here I am. Asking for your help. Any thoughts? I believe this is Dahl.

St. Patrick- my kid's no fool

Dear St. Patrick, I think you're a nice enough guy, and really appreciate the fact that you're trying to get children to eat a more healthy fare but this is not the way.
My kid's no fool. You know that old saying ,' You can't bulls**t a bulls**tter?' No, I guess it wouldn't fit in this instance......um, we're no fools. Got it? Not take your green peppers and stop trying to pass them off as four leaf clovers. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice......you will NOT make a mockery of my children! Momma may have allowed it with me but now, older and wiser, I am on to the game brother!

For those of you interested in trying this sham of a clover, it won't bring you luck, I ate a pot, about the size that would hold a hefty portion of gold too, full of them, and all I got was indigestion, but if you're bull headed them click through. The piccy will lead you strait to the recipe. Though should it work for you.....remember who loves you best and who showed you the way. ME baby! Me!

Dieting? Yummy, look away!

Or maybe not. I think that maybe this is the way to go. At first I was considering these delicious foods for Lola and Dahl. To play with. Now I think I will go shopping and buy me a pantry full! Stock my refridgerator with the goodies. And tout their goodness from the mountain tops!

Just think. They don't spoil and since I'm into this whole organic kick, what's more organic than felt wool? And imagine my waist. Reappearing! Now that's a thought to chew on.

Apologies for the interruption, the heavens seem to open up and a chorus of angels begin singing when I mention... well  you know who's cakes.

She makes the best not made of felt cakes this side of a computer screen! I have purchased them for babyshowers, bridal showers, my daughters' first birthday party, and I send them every year, religiously, to my childrens' pediatricians, and other very special doctors that treated my risky pregnancy with Lola and Dahl. I love their cakes, like the Earth loves the Sun's warmth. Probably more with that whole hole in the ozone layer issue and all.... LD

Mr. LD comes into a room and I turn around just like this. Like I was on a little perch......

And so I have found the perfect way to show I care and I think, ladies, this may just be the perfect way to show your honey that you care.

Thanksgiving

Hello Readers.

Today I sit writing a draft in a notebook. I've been thinking a lot about life. We all do, I know, but not the day to day mundane events. The things that reach the deepest abyss of one's soul. That kind of thinking, admittedly, is par for the course for me. And a bit exhausting. Spending hours pondering everything and reveling in all of the beauty filling my range of vision is not an extraordinary but ordinary days in my life. However, with Thanksgiving just around the corner I was also thinking of you. Experience has shown me that many people can have this depth of thought- the kind that moves the soul, almost to tears with gratitude for all that surrounds us and pain mixed with confusion at the thought that anyone feels any less appreciative - hurting one another, or worse. I wanted to focus on reminding others to think deep within. Search for what truly means something to you. And take it. Grab hold and nuture it. For me? Wow. It's a challenge defining such a vast love. I love life. I love to help people, to nurture, to cultivate a closeness a bond that can last me at least a lifetime. I am grateful for that. Grateful for my family, our health, the house,  the noise  the children make when I have a migraine because they are doing what I believe our Creator has put them here to do. To live life fully in the moment. With virve. I am grateful for my husband. A person I love and admire. Someone who has my respect because of who he is and not because that's just as it should be. He earned it from day one. I knew deep within he was a man of great character. A type not often seen today......

I am grateful for people. I am continually enlightened by watching others and I hope to never stop learning. Grateful for a handful of friends I consider my family. In them I have found an extension of my own soul that often a family member can not fulfill try as they may.

I turn to you. What are you grateful? Not just on Thanksgiving. I honestly say a prayer of gratitude for everyone I mentioned at least once a day. What  moves you? Who touches you? What makes you stop whatever you're doing.....and think. The moss on your brick driveway? A blue cloudless sky on a very crisp cool morn? The sights and sounds of your children in rumpled pjs, tossled hair, and cheshire smiles jumping into your bed for a Sunday snuggle? Or for you is it a bright red envelope you didn't expect in a mailbox overrun with bills?

Guys, poetry is so passé, jewelry so overdone...

but jewelery inscribed with beautiful words? That fits  my bill, er the bill of your lady love. Or if you lack a woman to love than perhaps, a close girly friend. Platonic. I can do that.

Actually, they've caught my heart, so much so that I think some of them are probably something Kobe Bryant affair worthy, so Vanessa, this post is for you girlfriend. To me this has such meaning, such an abyss of possibility...perfect for the dreamer, or the idealist. Ahem, er, me? Oh, not at all what I meant but oh how very perceptive of you.

and truthbetold this is also very near and dear to my own soul. To my eye this appears to be a bean, that can be planted and sprout into anything, a huge beanstalk if you will, reaching high into the heavens, to where anything is possible, and all dreamy vignettes come to fruition. The website says it's a large silver oval adorned with a citrus leaf.  Yawn....boring. You decide. A stairway to anything your mind can envision or a silver polished metal orb? Hmph!      

 Back Back to the Bryants. Vanessa, as I said this is for you. You know, to keep in mind for his little transgressions. And Kobe, read this one. It's even inspiring so she'll feel better everytime she sees her reflection in the mirror and remembers that you gave her a necklace that reads,' The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide'. Simple and Magnificent. Just like you. Call me.  I jest of course. I am over the moon happily married and thus have no jewelry.

Packing

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Forget her! Have you missed me? I'm back! LD in the blog. And so ready to show you some outrageously out of my price range if I intend to stay married items, but they're perfect for you!!

I'm going on a trip. A short one so I'll try and leave the kitchen sink at home. It's tough packing for a family of five. There are so many things I plan on bringing, for, you know, the emergency that is bound to happen if I don't. It's sort of travel insurance. I bring bandages, no one falls and scrapes their knees. Tylenol, no headaches. Robitussin? Well, as most people know, at least those of us who grew up without health insurance, a swig of Robitussin is good for anything that ails you. Maybe two. Two swigs. And if you're really sick, a couple of swigs of Nyquil, well that will knock you out so you don't know what's up from down. Much better, not to mention cheaper than a trip to the doctor.

Back to the trip, it's just for a weekend. I have loads of laundry to do (yes, pun intended, I do say loads of this or loads of that so it would be funny if you knew me in person) and lists to make, and  things to finish up here at home before taking off for some seriously needed holiday. So I was doing what I do when I am crunched for time: I windows shop.   

And shopping for things in the spirit of travel was the order of the day so as to not veer off from task quite too far. And hoping to inspire my reader. the one of you who faithfully reads, thank you, this is dedicated to you, to shop and to travel a bit. And for a much longer stratch and to a much more, er, exotic place than I am headed to in a few days.

Hellooooooooo Babysitter!

Hello Kitty. That loveable, ever giving, sweet,we think yet are not sure because she doesn't have a mouth to tell us otherwise, feline has found her voice, though she's still not managed to find a mouth. HK , the robot, is being marketed to parents who have no time to spend with last season's must have accessory, a kid. These rugrats were like a dazzling pair of diamond earrings for a few seasons strait and most of us went and invested in one or two, perhaps a whole collection, only to realize that much like those dalmation puppies, they grow and are no fun in real life. Take note, neither are bunnies. And no, they do not carry baskets full of candy, and carrying one in my purse brought me no luck at Micosukee gaming. And it had all four feet so this was certainly should have been a lucky rabbit. Anyway, all of these accessories become a burden, and so these wonderful people, I don't know who, have decided to help with a talking Hello Kitty. She will take care of them, or entertain them, whichever floats your boat, so you can pretend to go to the grocery store, or that you're having surgery, or watering your plants, and run away. I was thinking of all of my friends who have accessorized with children. Really, when not in public, or being photographed we all do need something, to care for them. Sigh, how's that saying go? 'Everything old is new again?' They'll be en vogue again. And at $6,299.99 she is the perfect stocking stuffer.- LD

Princess

Sometimes you feel like one. Sometimes you don't. Those are the days that you've forgotten your crown. McGyver gal LD has a remedy for that.  I wanted something you could make with whatever content were living or not at the deepest recesses of your purse. Nothing pretty would come of it so I changed course.

I was reading and came across (cough, cough, heavily searched for, hired a team of young researchers who spent 2 weeks on this, and devoted a many of my waking hours to this)a tutorial on making crowns. We should all have one. At the very least!

 

So if you're feeling a bit gloomy, need a bit of uplift, try a crown on for size. I am looking forward to the day there are crowns for sale at your local coffee shoppe yet until then you'll have to make it yourself.Thanks to Creative Chaos for the tutorials. It comes in two parts. One and a Two and a .... that's it. Just two. Now go and make yourself pretty.
